Talking to my barber made me rethink my whole phone setup

He said he deletes his maps history every night because 'the phone knows where I sleep, that's too much for me,' and it hit me how I've just let my phone track every coffee shop and gas station for the last 3 years without ever asking why, so has anyone else given up location sharing for good after a random chat like that?

...and that reminds me, my buddy Dave did the exact same thing after his Uber driver ranted about data collection for a full 20 minute ride. He went home that night and shut off location history on every single app, even his weather app. Told me it felt weirdly freeing for about a week, like he was off the grid or something. Then he got lost in a new part of town trying to find a coffee shop he'd been to before, and spent 30 minutes driving around because he had no saved places. He turned it back on the next day, but now he clears it every Sunday morning. Says it's a nice middle ground, knows where he is when he needs it, but doesn't feel like the phone owns his whole routine.
