A chat with my neighbor changed how I look at my old drill press
He came over to borrow a socket set and saw my 1980s Craftsman press in the garage. He said, 'You know, that old thing has better bones than anything you'd buy today, you just have to treat it like a project, not a tool.' I've been using it for years, just dealing with the runout and the loose table. But he pointed out that for about $100 in new bearings and a few hours of work, it would be better than new. I always thought old gear was just worn out. Has anyone else brought an old piece of equipment back from the brink and been surprised?

Oh man, my old lawnmower taught me the same lesson the hard way.

Yeah, @nancy820, those old machines sure have a way of fighting back, huh?
