Changed my mind about shop vacuums after a wet mess in Dayton

I always thought a cheap 5 gallon shop vac was fine, no need to spend over $50. Then my basement sump pump failed and I had about 3 inches of water near the water heater. I borrowed my neighbor's 12 gallon Rigid with the pump attachment and it cleared the whole thing in 20 minutes. Now I'm looking at buying one, anyone else have a model that handles water without dying?
