Honestly, it took me three whole days to figure out why my new bathroom fan was making that weird humming noise. Ngl, I was about to call a pro.

Been there. Mine was a loose mounting bracket that would only buzz at certain fan speeds. A couple of screws fixed it. Sometimes it's just a piece of trim rattling against the housing. I've also had a wire nut tap against the inside of the cover plate, which sounded way worse than it was.

Heard that @bailey.susan, the shipping plug thing is hilarious lol. Wait, a wire nut tapping against the cover plate? That sounds like the fan's haunted, not just annoying. I swear mine would only buzz right when I was trying to fall asleep, and then stop the second I got up to look at it. Drove me nuts for a week before I found a tiny leaf stuck in the vent gap.

Oh man, I spent a whole weekend convinced my fan motor was dying. Turns out I'd left the little plastic shipping plug inside the housing. It was just spinning around in there, humming away. I felt like a total genius.
