I finally stopped using painter's tape for sharp lines after a pro painter ripped me a new one

He said I was wasting time and that a good edge with a wet brush is faster (and looks way better). Has anyone else switched from tape to freehanding and actually stuck with it?

Totally ditched the tape after a buddy showed me how to cut in with a sash brush. I mean, it takes a little practice getting that wrist flick down, but once you do it's way faster and you get these clean lines that just look natural. I even stopped bothering with floor trim tape, just a steady hand and a wet tip. Best change I ever made to my painting routine.

Yeah, I gotta agree with you @derek99... cutting in with a brush is a total game changer once you get the hang of it. That wrist flick felt super awkward for me at first, kept getting shaky lines and messing up. But after watching a few YouTube videos and practicing on some scrap drywall it just clicked one day. Now I can do a whole room in half the time without worrying about tape peeling off or leaving glue residue behind. The clean edges look way more professional too, like a real painter did it instead of a weekend warrior. Plus you save a ton of money not buying all that tape every time...
