Installed a French drain myself, 3 days turned into 2 weeks
I figured digging a 40 foot trench in my backyard in Austin would take a weekend tops. Hit solid limestone 2 feet down and spent a week just chipping away with a rented jackhammer. Then it rained for 3 days straight and washed all my gravel into the neighbor's yard. Anyone else ever tackle a drainage project that just snowballed on you?

Man that's rough. It's funny how stuff like that always seems to follow this rule where everything takes exactly three times longer than you think it will. Same thing happens to me with every project around the house, I swear it's just how life works.

Everything always takes "three times longer" and costs double what you budget. That's just how life works.
