Just realized my kitchen remodel added way more value than I expected

I put in a new tile backsplash and under cabinet lighting about 8 months ago. The realtor who came by yesterday said it bumped my home's appeal by a solid 5% for buyers. Is that normal, or did I just get lucky with the choices?

Remember my friend who went full disco ball with mirrored tiles? Realtor straight up told him to change it before listing. Your clean picks definitely saved you that headache.

That 5% bump is pretty solid for a backsplash and lighting. Realtors love that stuff because it looks good in listing photos. You probably did get a bit lucky with your choices, but mostly you just avoided the weird trendy stuff that turns buyers off. Stick to simple, clean finishes and you'll usually come out ahead.
