My 1948 garage door spring snapped last Tuesday and I learned why nobody touches those things
Last Tuesday I was pulling out of the driveway when the torsion spring on my 1948 garage door let go with a bang that made my neighbor come running. A guy at the hardware store on 5th said he would not sell me a replacement spring because one wrong turn on that winding bar can break your arm, so my door has sat half open for 8 days now. How do you all decide when a job is worth the risk versus just paying someone who does it every day?
