My dad's old chalk line still works better than my laser one

Went to snap a line on some plywood last week in the garage and my laser level just washed out in the daylight. Grabbed his old chalk reel from 1982 out of the toolbox, one snap and it was dead perfect. I mean, has anyone else gone back to the old tools because the new ones just can't handle real sun?
