My pressure washer pump seized up after 5 years, so I'm debating whether to rebuild it for $80 in parts or just buy a new one.
The local hardware store guy said a rebuild kit might get me another season, but my neighbor thinks I'm crazy not to just upgrade to a newer model with more GPM.

Honestly a seized pump after five years is pretty normal wear and tear. That $80 gamble for one more season sounds like a waste when a new unit's warranty would last longer. Your neighbor might be onto something about just moving on.

Five years is a decent run. What brand and model is your pressure washer? Some pumps are known to be easier to rebuild than others, and the quality of the kit matters a lot.

Clark.kelly has a point about the warranty. Seen this a lot lately, people fixing old stuff just to have it break again in months. That eighty bucks could go toward a better machine. Feels like we're all patching things up instead of getting what actually works.
