Shoutout to the guy at the hardware store who told me to use a $15 moisture meter before I tiled my bathroom floor.

Remember buying one after a basement project went wrong. Best twenty bucks I ever spent, and it lives in my tool bag now. Parker_sullivan is right about the rental cost being crazy for what they are. That quick check tells you if you need to wait or if you can just get to work. Saved my kitchen floor from becoming a science project.

Wait, they only cost $15 now? I had to rent one from the store last year and it was almost that much for a single day. That guy saved you a huge headache and probably a ton of money fixing a moldy floor later.

Yeah and I'm the genius who spent 80 bucks on a "professional" one before I knew about the cheap ones. Felt real smart when my buddy showed me his 15 dollar version that did the exact same thing. My wallet still hasn't forgiven me. At least it's a nice paperweight now.
