Talked to my neighbor about his 20 year old garage workbench, now I get why mine keeps falling apart
He said the secret is building for how you'll actually use it, not how you think you will. My bench is all plywood and 2x4s, but I only ever clamp stuff on one corner, so the whole top twists. He built his with a thick solid core door and heavy legs, and he never bothered with fancy joinery. I'm gonna rebuild mine this weekend with a used door from the salvage place, cost maybe $40. Anyone else realized they overbuilt their setup but put the strength in the wrong spots?
