That $80 cordless caulk gun was the worst tool money I ever spent

Last spring I had to recaulk the whole bathroom and figured an expensive gun would save my wrist. Spent $80 at Home Depot on a rechargeable one and it squeezed out a mess I had to scrape off twice. The speed setting was useless, it dripped everywhere, and I ended up finishing with a $6 manual gun. Battery died halfway through the tub and I had to wait 3 hours for a recharge. Has anyone else had better luck with these things, or am I just an idiot who should've stuck with the basic model?
