The $10 laser level I mocked ended up saving my shelf install

Bought a cheap laser level at Harbor Freight last spring mostly as a joke, figured my old bubble level was plenty. Then I tried hanging 14 floating shelves in the living room and the laser line paid for itself in one afternoon, no more re-drilling holes after the first shelf looked crooked. I still use the bubble for small stuff, but for anything over 6 feet long I grab the laser every time now. Anyone else find a bargain gadget that surprised them, or is it usually the opposite?

Honestly I bought one of those cheap laser levels too and ended up using it to hang a row of picture frames. Still managed to get one crooked but at least I can blame the laser instead of my eyesight now, which is a win in my book. Ngl the bubble level is just backup for when I need to feel bad about myself.
