Used to paint with a roller, now I'm all about the brush and pad setup

I used to just grab a cheap roller and slop paint on my walls, thinking it was faster and good enough. But about 2 years ago, I redid my living room in Austin and tried using a high quality 4 inch brush for the edges and a foam pad for the smooth parts. Turns out, the roller left all this texture and drips I'd have to fix later anyway. Now I spend an extra 20 minutes on prep but the finish looks way cleaner and I don't have to do touch ups. The key was getting a good angled brush for cutting in around the trim. Has anyone else found a tool that made their paint jobs come out way better?

Did you use a specific brand of angled brush or just any decent one?

I read somewhere that the key is really about the bristle stiffness more than the brand, and I have to agree with that. I actually picked up a cheap angled brush from the hardware store because it's what some woodworkers use for fine lines and it works great. @mary_kelly I'd say just look for one with stiff, tight bristles and a sharp angle, that's what made the biggest difference for me.
