Vent: overheard a guy at Home Depot bragging about ripping out all his old windows himself
Guy was loud on his phone in the insulation aisle. Said he saved $4000 doing all 12 windows in one weekend. But then he said he just shoved new windows into old frames with no flashing tape. And he used spray foam to fill gaps. Like, dude. That's a mold factory waiting to happen. My buddy's a contractor and he's told me horror stories about rot from jobs like that. I get wanting to save cash but some corners you just can't cut. Has anyone else seen this kind of shortcut backfire big time?

Read a scary article about a guy who did the same thing with his basement windows (rot ruined the whole wall like two years later). So yeah, that $4000 "savings" is definitely gonna cost him way more down the road.

Honestly, @hollyramirez that "savings" part is the biggest joke. Ngl, cheaping out on windows is basically asking for rot to eat your walls.
