Built a raised garden bed two weeks ago and the whole side wall just collapsed
I used untreated pine because cedar was way too pricey... figured I'd get a couple seasons out of it. But the screws I used were just drywall screws and they snapped clean through after the first heavy rain soaked the wood. Ended up having to dig out all the dirt, replace the whole front panel with some salvaged fence boards, and this time I drilled pilot holes and used actual deck screws. Has anyone else dealt with wood swelling and snapping crappy hardware like this? Which screws do you trust for outdoor builds?

Drywall screws in a raised bed is a bold move.

Wait no way did they actually use drywall screws in a raised bed? lmao those things are gonna snap the first time that wood expands or gets wet. They can't handle any moisture at all, they'll just rust and break off inside the wood. I've seen people use deck screws or even just regular galvanized screws for stuff like that, but drywall screws are a joke for any outdoor project. Seriously, they're only good for hanging drywall inside a house, not for holding up dirt and plants. Hope nobody plants anything heavy in there or that bed is gonna fall apart real quick lol.
