Choosing between wood filler and epoxy for my kitchen floor gap

I had a quarter inch gap between my old oak floor and the new tile in my kitchen. I could have used regular wood filler, but I went with a two part epoxy filler instead. It took a full day to set, but now it's rock solid and won't shrink. Has anyone used something else for a gap that big?

That rock solid epoxy is key, and taylorc50's caulk peeling shows why.

Smart move with the epoxy, right? I used a colored caulk once and it peeled up in a month.

...and that's the thing about shortcuts, they never hold up like the real stuff... just like using cheap paint on a fence or fast-drying caulk instead of taking the time with the right materials. Every time I try to skip a step or grab the easy solution, it comes back to bite me a month later.
