Heard my neighbor yell 'it's just a little water' before his ceiling fell in

Honestly, I was fixing a leaky sink pipe last Tuesday and heard him through the wall. Tbh, he ignored a drip from his upstairs bathroom for like three months because he thought it was no big deal. Ngl, the whole thing made me double check every joint with my plumber's tape and a wrench. Has anyone else had a small home repair turn into a huge mess because they waited too long? I'm trying to figure out a good schedule to check stuff around my house.

That drip can absolutely wreck drywall over time, lol.

Actually a small drip can do a ton of damage. It's not the water itself, it's that it keeps the drywall damp for weeks. That leads to mold and soft spots that eventually crumble.
