Hit 100 hours on my basement renovation and still haven't touched the electrical

I mean I knew roughing in a 12x16 room would take time but when I added up my weekend logs I was genuinely shocked I've spent that many hours just on framing and drywall mud, anyone else lose track of time like that on a single room project?

Diving right into that mud work is where the hours really disappear. I swear, I spent two full weekends just taping and applying three coats on a single 8x10 wall because I kept going back to sand and touch up spots that were totally invisible to anyone but me. Had to redo a corner bead three times before I was happy with how it blended into the existing wall, and by the end of it my shoulders were killing me. The framing went pretty fast once I got the hang of the layout, but the drywall finishing is a whole different beast, it's like painting a room with a toothbrush.

The mud work is exactly where time vanishes, that 8x10 wall story hits close to home. What helped me was switching to a 12 inch knife for the final skim coat it cuts down on passes and leaves a way cleaner surface. Also, a good damp sponge between sandings catches those invisible bumps way better than dry sanding alone.
