Made a single shelf in my garage and the whole room looks different

Last weekend I finally put up one floating shelf above my workbench. The bench itself has been cluttered for 2 years with random cans and tools sitting everywhere. That one shelf gave me a spot to put all the little stuff and now the bench looks almost empty. I keep walking in there just to stare at how clean it is. Has anyone else had one tiny change make a huge visual difference in a room?

My one shelf is the only organized thing in a garage that still looks like a tornado hit it, so I feel you. It's funny how one clean corner makes the rest look like a disaster zone, huh?

Stare at that empty bench all you want, but you just created a shelf that will collect every random thing you set down for the next 5 years. That clean look is temporary and it gives you a false sense of having your garage under control. You probably spent 20 minutes deciding where to put the paint can and now you think you're a master organizer. It's just one shelf in a room full of chaos, not a new garage.
