My kitchen backsplash tile job went from rough to great after one trick

I spent 4 hours trying to get my subway tile spacers to sit right last weekend and kept ending up with crooked lines. Then my neighbor came over and showed me how to use a leveling system with wedges and it fixed everything in about 20 minutes. Has anyone else found a tool that totally changed their tiling game?

Spent an entire Saturday crying over a single row of subway tile before I discovered laser levels exist. Just pointed the laser at the wall and realized my first row was off by a quarter inch. Had to rip three rows out but at least I didn't waste another weekend. Leveling clips are great and all but a straight line to start saves you from becoming a new person. The wedges just cover up your mistakes like makeup on a bad tattoo.

Laser levels are great and all but now I just have a new way to see how crooked I really am... ignorance was bliss honestly. My first tile row looked like I was trying to spell my name in cursive with grout. The leveling wedges just meant my mistakes were nice and even instead of all over the place. At least your tears probably added some extra grip to the thinset.
