Pro tip: Don't use silicone caulk for shower floor tiles

I had a leak in my master shower last month, the one I tiled myself two years ago. Turns out the silicone caulk I used on the floor joints just peeled right off from the water and moisture. Should I tear it all out and use epoxy grout instead, or can I just re-caulk it with something better and hope for the best?

Eh, I'm not totally convinced you need to rip everything out over just some silicone peeling. A lot of times people blame the caulk when it's really about how clean the surface was when they put it on. You could just scrape out the old stuff, let everything dry out completely for a few days, and use a high quality 100% silicone again. Epoxy grout is tough to work with and if you mess it up, you're stuck with it. Not saying it's not waterproof, but for a floor joint that moves a little, silicone is usually fine if you prep it right. Might be overkill to tear out two years of tile work over this.

I read that epoxy grout is way more waterproof than silicone ever was.
