Question about those cheap vinyl peel-and-stick floor tiles

I spent $180 on a box of them from a big box store two months ago. Installed them in my laundry room. Now three of them are curling up at the edges and two more have shifted out of place. The floor was level, I prepped it right, followed the directions to the letter. Did I just buy the wrong brand or is this stuff always junk? Has anyone had luck with a specific brand that actually stays put?

Hey did you actually use a roller on them? I've seen a bunch of people skip that step and then wonder why their tiles fail. I used those same TrafficMaster ones in my basement two years ago with a cheap hand roller and they're still flat as a pancake. Also, was your laundry room floor totally dry when you laid them down? Even a little moisture from a recent wash can mess with the adhesive. I made that mistake once in my bathroom and had to rip up half the floor after a month.

Sounds like you got a bad batch or a cheap knockoff. I've installed those tiles in a few rentals and had good luck with TrafficMaster from Home Depot, but only the peel-and-stick ones with the thick clear top layer. The thin ones always curl, especially if the floor gets any moisture. Make sure you pressed them down hard with a roller, not just by hand.
