Returning from a Greek island hop left me conflicted over painting my kitchen cabinets Aegean blue or keeping them neutral.
I just got back from two weeks sailing around the Cyclades, and now my plain white kitchen feels painfully bland. I'm obsessed with the vibrant blue shutters and doors I saw everywhere, and I'm seriously considering painting my cabinets a similar shade. One argument is that injecting that travel-inspired color would make the space uniquely personal and joyful every time I walk in. The counterpoint is that such a bold choice might clash with my existing appliances and reduce resale value, as future buyers could see it as a niche preference. I've already bought sample pots in three different blues, and testing them has my spouse rolling their eyes at the daily color debates. Part of me thinks I should just go for it and treat the cabinets as an easy-to-change element if I regret it later. Yet, I'm also weighing if a more subtle approach, like blue accents or tile, would satisfy the itch without commitment. Where do you stand on translating travel euphoria into permanent home design choices?

Oh, I completely understand that impulse. After a week in Morocco, I came home and painted an accent wall a vibrant terracotta, and it still makes me smile each day. That color instantly evokes the Marrakech markets for me, turning a bland space into something with real memory and warmth. Your Aegean blue could do the same, and since paint isn't permanent, I say lean into that travel joy.

Ha, my Tuscan yellow after Italy turned out looking like sickly mustard!
