That $89 corner shelf kit from the big box store fought back
I figured a floating corner shelf would take an afternoon, so I grabbed this kit with the hidden brackets and spent a whole Saturday wrestling it. The instructions showed a level wall, but mine had a 1/4 inch bow right in the corner, so nothing lined up. After 3 trips to the hardware store for different anchors and shims, I finally got it hung, only for the top shelf to wobble. I ended up buying a solid pine board and cutting my own bracket for $12, and it took 40 minutes. The kit is now in a drawer and I keep staring at it like it owes me money. Anyone else had a 'simple' kit turn into a full weekend project?

Man, my buddy Tim fought one of those for two days and ended up mounting it upside down before giving up.
