That old painter's trick with a wet rag actually saved my trim work
I was fighting brush lines on some oak baseboards for a whole Saturday until a 70-year-old neighbor walked over and told me to keep a damp rag handy and wipe the brush between strokes. Has anyone else tried this or got a better way to keep latex from drying too fast?

Oh man, I feel your pain with brush lines! My dad taught me that trick years ago and it seriously saved my sanity on a whole set of kitchen cabinets.

Oh, I have to disagree a bit - I think brush lines add a nice handcrafted look if you keep them consistent.

Angela, your dad knew what he was talking about for sure. I remember painting a whole bedroom set last year and I almost threw the brush across the room after the first drawer. The brush lines were so bad it looked like I'd used a rake instead of a brush. Then I tried that trick with a slightly damp sponge after each coat and it was like night and day difference. Made the whole project actually enjoyable instead of a frustrating mess. It's one of those things you don't realize how much it matters until you see the before and after. So glad you shared that, it's a real lifesaver.
