Tried the $12 liquid nails alternative from Harbor Freight on my baseboards

Picked it up on a whim during a trip to the one in Austin last month. Figured it would be fine for a quick fix, but the bond was way weaker than the original stuff I usually buy. Learned the hard way that cheap adhesive just means redoing the work twice, so I'll stick with the name brand for trim from now on. Anyone else have a go-to adhesive brand that actually holds up?

My buddy tried that same stuff on his bathroom baseboards and said it peeled right off after a week. He's usually one to go for the cheap option but even he admitted it was a waste. He ended up grabbing the Loctite PL Premium and said it's held solid through a humid summer and all. I trust his word on it since he's redone his whole downstairs trim twice now.

Three dollars and twelve cents I saved with that same tube. Ended up paying for it four times over when I had to scrape it all off, buy the good stuff, and patch the drywall I gouged pulling the baseboard off. My wife still brings up the "great trim disaster of last spring" every time we walk past that corner of the living room. The Loctite PL Premium is the only thing I'll use now too, that stuff bonds like it's personally offended by the idea of letting go. I've had projects where I had to use a crowbar and a prayer to remove a piece I glued with it, which is way better than the alternative. Sometimes being cheap just means you get to do the same job twice for the price of one.
