Appreciation post: the client who told me to stop hiding my edges

I used to always square off my vinyl flooring cuts tight to the wall, then cover them with baseboard. Last year a customer in Portland watched me work and said 'why are you tucking those under when the pattern could run clean to the sightline?' She made me leave a quarter-inch gap and use a color-matched caulk instead. Now I do that on half my jobs and it looks way cleaner. Anyone else ever get a random suggestion from a client that actually stuck with you?

Legit learned that trick from a tile guy who did my bathroom back in '09.

Hold on, I actually tried that once and the grout cracked within a year. Those old-school shortcuts don't always hold up with modern materials and prep work. Maybe that trick worked with the weird stuff they used back then but I'd probably just stick with the standard methods now.
