I tried using a $5 app to track my daily water intake and ended up drinking way less than I thought

So I downloaded this basic water tracker app called 'HydroLog' about three days ago, just to see if I was hitting my goal of eight glasses a day. I figured I was doing okay, maybe missing a glass or two. The app made me log every single sip, and after the first full day, I was shocked. I only drank about four glasses total, and two of those were with meals. I thought I was sipping from my bottle all afternoon at my desk, but the log showed huge gaps, like three hours with nothing. It made me realize I was just holding the bottle, not actually drinking from it. I'm trying to be more mindful now and actually set phone reminders to take a real break and drink. Has anyone else had their perception of a simple habit totally flipped by actually tracking it?
