My barber's 10 minute rant got me to finally switch banks
I've been with the same bank since 2009, didn't think much about it. Last Tuesday my barber mentioned he got hit with a $35 overdraft fee on a $4 coffee. He showed me the app on his phone, how easy it was to track everything. I checked my own statements that night and found $18 a month in fees I never noticed. Has anyone else had a random conversation make you question a decade old habit?

My sister switched banks after a similar chat with our mail carrier, of all people. She was paying $12 a month for "account maintenance" on a savings account she barely touched, which is just robbery when you think about it. I sat down with my coffee one Sunday and went through two years of statements, found $240 in ATM fees plus a $29 charge for paper statements I never asked for. That barber rant probably saved you real money, and honestly it's wild how these banks hide stuff in plain sight. Called my bank the next day and they refunded half of it just to keep me, which tells you everything about what they were making off me.
