Pop-up sprinklers beat drip irrigation for lawns, change my mind

After three summers fighting with drip lines clogging from dirt and getting chewed up by squirrels in my yard in Phoenix, I swapped to pop-up sprinklers and my grass actually stays green now. Drip is great for flower beds but for a regular lawn it's a pain to maintain and adjust when you reseed. Has anyone else found drip irrigation overrated for basic grass or am I missing something?

Drip lines in Phoenix would probably just cook in that heat anyway... I've heard of guys running soaker hoses out there and they just end up cracking from the sun exposure before they even clog. Pop-ups seem way more idiot proof for just keeping a lawn alive in that kind of weather.

Does that hold up when monsoon season hits and the dust turns popups into mud geysers?
