Pro tip: changing your furnace filter every 30 days instead of letting it go 3 months

I finally swapped mine after 4 months last winter and my electric bill dropped by $27 the next month. Has anyone else noticed a big difference from a simple filter change?

@abbychen that $27 is real, especially if you have a system that works harder than it should. The angle nobody's talking about is the humidity factor (at least where I live). A dirty filter makes your AC run longer to pull moisture out, so you're paying for both cooling and dehumidifying that never gets done right. Changed mine monthly last summer and my place actually felt less sticky, plus the unit cycled off faster.
