Rant: Chose a 45 minute commute over a 5 minute one and I don't regret it

Back in March I had two job offers in Phoenix. One was a fancy office 5 minutes from my apartment paying 58k, the other was a smaller shop 45 minutes east paying 52k. Everyone thought I was insane for taking the longer drive. But the close office had this open layout with no walls, constant meetings, and the manager talked over everyone. The far place let me work in a quiet corner with real doors and my own bench. I spend 90 minutes a day in traffic listening to podcasts about machining. A year in, I still look forward to Monday. Has anyone else taken a worse commute just to escape a toxic setup?
