Rant: My garage door spring snapped and I burned 3 weekends on DIY fixes
Last month my garage door started slamming down hard, so I figured it was just the tracks needing grease. I spent two weekends adjusting the rails and replacing the rollers, but it still sounded like a gunshot every time it closed. Finally called a local repair guy in Phoenix who took one look and said the torsion spring had a hairline crack. He swapped it in 40 minutes for $180, and I felt like an idiot for the 3 wasted weekends. Does anyone else dive into fixes without checking the actual part that moves everything? How do you decide when to just call a pro from the start?
