Spent $300 on a Dyson Airwrap and it melted my hair

Honestly, I saw all those Instagram videos and thought it would change my life. Bought it at Target in Chicago last month, tried it once on medium heat, and my ends looked fried. Has anyone else had a pricey styling tool completely backfire on them?

Wait @nancy824, the post says "melted my hair" but that's probably just heat damage right? Hair can't really melt like plastic does. Sounds like a legit bummer though, $300 is a LOT for a tool that doesn't work for your hair type.
