That $60 garlic press I bought is a total scam
Spent 3 months thinking mine was just defective before I saw a video showing all of them leave half the clove stuck inside. Has anyone else found one that actually works or is it just a bad design?

My $60 one from Williams Sonoma did the same thing until I realized you have to put the clove in with the root end facing the handle, not the hinge. @piper_flores69 probably could have saved her friend the frustration if she had known that trick, but it's still a pain compared to just using a knife honestly. The real issue is the tiny hopper size on these things - I switched to a larger stainless steel model from OXO for $25 and it gets 90% of the clove every time without any special positioning. So it's not a bad design per se, just something that needs more thought from the user than most people want to give.

Bought my friend one for her birthday and watched her struggle with it for months before she finally tossed it in the back of the drawer. She told me she just presses the cloves with the flat side of a knife now and it's way faster. Honestly think the design is just broken for everyone.
