A job site in Tacoma made me rethink my whole approach to floor plans

I was working on a big apartment project there, and the lead architect kept pointing at my drawings asking 'Where's the furniture?' I had all the walls and doors perfect, but nothing inside the rooms. He said 'A floor plan without furniture is just a maze, not a home.' So now I always sketch in a couch, a bed, and a table, even in the early drafts. It really helps everyone see the space better. Does anyone else add basic furniture to their first round of plans?

That "maze, not a home" line really sticks with you, doesn't it?

Yeah it's one of those lines that gets more true the older you get. The whole idea of just running in circles trying to find some meaning that isn't there. Kinda makes you stop and look at your own life for a second.

It's the kind of line that makes you side-eye your own choices.
