A simple trick saved me from a huge mistake on a Denver site plan
I was in the field last Tuesday, checking a plot for a new townhouse project. My tablet froze right as I tried to save the final survey points. Instead of panicking, I remembered an old tip from a mentor: always take a quick photo of the setup with your phone as a backup. I did that, then restarted the tablet and manually entered the data from the photo. It took an extra 20 minutes, but it saved the whole day's work. Has anyone else found a simple backup step that saved them from a redo?

That "quick photo" backup is such a lifesaver. I do the exact same thing with my transit level readings now. I'll snap a picture of the rod and the display screen together before I even write it down in the book. It saved me a whole afternoon once when my notebook got soaked in a sudden rain.

My phone's camera roll is basically my backup brain now, like elizabeth_bailey26 said.
