Can we talk about how I finally gave in and tried grid paper for layouts

I always thought grid paper was just for beginners who couldn't keep lines straight. Then I had to do a floor plan for a 2,400 square foot house last Tuesday and my lines kept running into each other. After 3 tries I grabbed a pad from my coworker Dan and finished the whole thing in 45 minutes flat. Has anyone else found a random tool they ignored for years that actually saved their butt on a job?

And the thing is once you switch you can't really go back to blank paper for layouts... I fought it for years too thinking it was cheating or something but now I won't start a floor plan without it. The built in scale just saves so much headache when you're trying to fit rooms together and nothing lines up right. Plus it's way easier to eyeball measurements when you've got those little squares ticking off feet for you. I keep a roll of graph paper in my truck now just in case I need to rough something out on site.
