Dropped $80 on a digital caliper and it paid for itself in one job

I got tired of guessing measurements on my scribe jobs and finally bought a nice Mitutoyo caliper at the hardware store. That same week I had a tricky cabinet layout where being off by 1/32 would have meant re-cutting a $200 sheet of plywood. Has anyone else found one tool that just saved your butt like that?

Pick up a decent dial indicator too if you don't have one yet. That combo has saved me from plenty of expensive mistakes.

Heard a machinist say that same thing on a podcast last week, @wendygrant. They're worth it.
