Finally figured out a way to stop my 3D models from crashing when I try to render a complex assembly view in SolidWorks.

I was about to lose my mind after the 4th crash yesterday, but then I started saving the assembly as a lightweight part file before hitting render, and it worked perfectly the first time.

Crashing four times before lunch is just SolidWorks checking to see if you're still awake, right? That lightweight part trick is a lifesaver for sure. My computer sounds like a jet engine whenever I even look at the render button wrong. Honestly, at this point I'm more surprised when it doesn't crash. You start to feel like you've won a small lottery just getting through a simple task.

Crashing four times is a lot... but at least you found a workaround. SolidWorks can be a pain like that.

Four crashes in one session sounds about right for a Tuesday. Did it happen while you were doing something specific, like a pattern or a large assembly mate? I've noticed it really hates certain features when the history gets too long. What's the worst crash you've had to deal with lately?
