Found my old drafting pencil sharpener while cleaning the garage.
Manual drafting had a charm that CAD can't match.

You ever think that charm is just nostalgia? CAD lets you undo mistakes in a click instead of starting a whole sheet over. My lines were always wobbly by hand, but the computer gets them perfect every time.

My uncle was an architect and his whole office switched to CAD in the late 90s. He said the only thing he really missed was the smell of the vellum paper when it came out of the printer. The charm people talk about is mostly just the quiet time alone at the board, not the actual work. Getting a perfect curve with a french curve was satisfying, but so is hitting undo when you mess up a complex fillet. It’s just different tools for the same job.
