Had a talk with an old-school senior drafter that flipped my thinking on digital-only workflows

He showed me how marking up a physical print with a red pen caught three tolerance errors I had missed in CAD on a commercial HVAC layout for a high school remodel. Has anyone else found that going analog for a quick pass saves them time in the long run?

kai657 nailed it with "your eyes just skip right over." But here's something I haven't seen anyone bring up yet. The physical print forces you to slow down and look at the whole sheet in a way that CAD just doesn't. On screen you zoom around, jump between layers, and your brain kind of fills in gaps without checking everything. But when you're holding a 24x36 print and running a red pen across it, you have to physically move your arm and eyes across every corner of that drawing. It changes how your brain processes the info. I bet it has something to do with how your hands and eyes work together versus just clicking a mouse. It's like the difference between reading a book on a Kindle versus reading a real one - your brain just tracks differently.
