Just realized my line weights finally look right after 4 months of fussing

Been drafting for a local firm here in Toledo and my details always came out muddy. Switched to a dedicated pen table setup and started assigning line weights by actual plotted thickness, not what looked good on screen. Last week I sent a set to the engineer and he said the hierarchy was finally clear at 11x17. Anyone else struggle with matching screen look to printed output for way too long?

Honestly, that screen to paper mismatch is the worst part of drafting. I spent months chasing a clean look on my monitor only to realize the plotter was squashing all my thin lines into a single gray blur. Once I stopped trusting the screen and started printing out test sheets with the actual pen weights, everything clicked. It's like your brain has to unlearn what it thinks looks good and relearn what reads correctly on a physical sheet. Now I keep a laminated cheat sheet next to the plotter with the exact line numbers for each scale, saves me so much tweaking.
