My plotter pen holder broke mid-print on a $2000 job
Happened last Tuesday in a cold garage in St. Louis. That plastic arm just snapped while I was doing a 48x36 floor plan. Had to run to the local office supply store for a replacement. Found a metal one for $12 that actually grips tighter. Has anyone else had those cheap plastic holders crack on them?

Oh man, YES. Same thing happened to me last month on a big house elevation. That plastic arm just gave up mid-line and I wanted to throw the whole machine out the window. I was SO mad because it messed up the timing on a rush order. My cheap replacement is also metal and it's been a TOTAL game changer. Those factory plastic parts are junk, they get brittle from cold or just from normal use. Glad you found one that works better, it makes a HUGE difference for grip and accuracy.

nancy820 I feel your pain on that one, it's like the universe just picks the worst possible moment for those plastic parts to fail. Glad the metal swap turned things around for you too.

@nancy820 same here with the cheap metal replacement, it's like night and day lol. I grabbed one off Amazon for like 8 bucks and it's been solid through two big commercial jobs already. The plastic ones just get too flimsy over time, especially when it's cold out and they snap like twigs. Worth every penny to just swap it out.
