Rant: Spent 6 months fighting with my scale and it was just humidity all along

Been working on a set of architectural drawings for a renovation near the coast. Kept noticing my scale readings were off by like 1/8 inch every few days. Adjusted my pencil, changed my paper, even bought a new ruler. Finally an old guy at the shop told me to check my paper storage. Turns out the humidity in my garage was making the paper expand and shrink. Swapped to storing everything in the house and now my measurements are dead consistent. Anyone else deal with paper movement from weather changes?

...and that reminds me of when I was trying to do some drafting for a model ship. Kept getting these little warps in the paper. Drove me nuts. Finally figured out my basement was damp as hell. Had to move all my stuff to the spare bedroom upstairs. Now I keep a cheap hygrometer in there. Anything above 50% and I don't even bother drawing. Paper's too unpredictable.

My dad had the same issue with his woodworking tools in the garage. Moisture is just the silent killer of every hobby, man. It's wild how much your environment messes with precision stuff before you even notice.
