Serious question, do you think the push for 3D modeling is making 2D skills less important?

I was talking to a new hire at the firm and he said his whole program focused on Revit, with maybe two weeks on manual drafting. It made me wonder if we're losing the basics that help you really understand a plan. Has your shop seen this shift too?
