Spent 4 hours redoing a drainage plan at a job site last week
I was working on a commercial lot in Austin and the architect's elevation marks were off by a foot. Had to re-run all my invert calculations on the fly. Has anyone else had to deal with bad survey data on a project?

Drove me crazy on a job last year in Dallas... the benchmark they gave us was off by six inches and we'd already poured half the slab. Had to bust it up and repour because the drainage slopes were heading toward the building instead of away from it. Surveyors getting sloppy with their setups is way too common these days.

Bad survey data is a NIGHTMARE and it happens way more often than people admit. I swear half the contractors I deal with just trust whatever numbers they get from the surveyor without double checking a single thing. Then you end up doing double work because someone's laziness or a miss in the field costs everyone time and money. It's the same across all trades honestly - people rush the early steps and then everyone below pays for it. Good on you for catching it on site though, because a foot off in drainage means real problems later.
