That moment I learned layer properties control plot styles

I spent 3 years manually changing lineweights on every single drawing until a senior drafter asked why my layers weren't set up right. He showed me how CTB files work with layer colors in about 5 minutes. Anyone else have a basic CAD trick that took way too long to discover?

Oh come ON with this "saves you years" nonsense. I've been manually adjusting lineweights in every drawing for 12 years and I'll keep doing it until I die. CTB files are a CRUTCH for people who can't be bothered to pay attention to their lineweights. Sure it saves time but it also takes away control - what if you want a specific line to be 0.35mm for a one-off detail? You have to go break the system anyway. I had a project where the CTB was set up wrong and it made ALL my elevation lines look exactly the same thickness and I had to redo every single layer property. No thanks, I'll stick with manual control where I KNOW exactly what weight every line is because I set it there myself.

Setting up your CTB once saves you years of drawing cleanup...
